How one student, financial aid, and twitter made up a story almost to crazy to believe...

What do students care about the most when coming to college? Food, where we are going to sleep, and MONEY!

About two weeks ago, the twitter-verse went crazy when it was discovered that a senior at Howard University, working in the Financial Aid office, stole money from his fellow students. "Somebody call on Tyrone," inspired by a popular song written by Erykah Badu, became the running joke this weekend as Howard University students, and other college students alike, learned of this new scandal.

Memes after memes began to swarm the twitter timeline, but then things took a more serious turn. Shortly after the jokes about Tyrone began, reports of students protesting outside of the Howard administration buildings began to circulate. Out side of the obvious, it left many students that do not attend Howard University, wondering how did it get this bad?

First, let's break down who is Mr. Financial Aid? Tyrone Hankerson Jr. is a student from Howard University that worked in the financial aid office for four years during his undergrad, according to the report given by The Huffington Post (https://goo.gl/GkRPL2) . Tyrone is currently a law student at the Howard University, and was on the track of getting ready to graduate, before the story broke. When Tyrone Hankerson was first accused by a Medium post, many students went to twitter to express their outrage, but of course to also show their creative skills, as meme after meme of Tyrone was created using personal pics from his social media accounts.

Although many went to social media, a group of Howard students went to administration and began a takeover to make sure their voices were heard.

Around the same time that the scandal broke about Tyrone Hankerson, another revelation came out about other workers in the aid and administration offices abusing their power. In the Medium post, Tyrone Hankerson was not the only person mentioned for messing with the financial aid of students, The post stated that there was multiple instances of this happening, and that the total amount of aided stolen could be as high as $1 million dollars. As the heat was coming down on Howard University, Howard University's President Wayne Fredrick, came out with a statement that expressed that these claims of injustice were true and that in 2016, six employees were fired for misconduct, according to CNBC news ( https://goo.gl/iZtwHx). With all the dirt of misdoings of administration coming out, Howard students took their frustrations right to door of their problem.... they organized the longest takeover in history of an academic building ! The students take over lasted for nine days and most of the demands that they taped on the windows of the administration buildings, were met.

The end of student sit in was a happy time for students, as they felt that things were finally looking up after the scandal. But for Howard University itself....things are not looking so good. After Tyrone Hankerson was accused, he went and got a lawyer. They put out a statement that all of the claims again Tyrone was false, and that he had a good amount of financial aid and scholarships awarded to him, that explained his lavish lifestyle that was clowned on the internet. And to further the sting of the scandal for the university, a statement was released that Tyrone Hankerson is suing Howard University for $10 million dollars..... way more than he was ever accused of stealing.
