How to breathe when everything around you is going crazy...

It seems crazy, but I am at that time of the school year where everything blurs by! From advising to registering for class to planning out the summer jobs and internships, and everything else in between, it can get real busy. That is why I came up with a few quick tips about how to survive the busy weeks coming ahead. Now, there is definitely more that you can do, but hopefully these tips gives you a starting point!

Tip 1: Plan out the week ahead!

- Utilize your planners, phone calendars, calendars in your room, or whatever you have. It's important to plan out your week when you know you’re going to have a busy week. Don't forget to put down any organization meetings, academic and non-academic appointments, homework assignment due dates, and much more.

Tip 2: Do as much homework as possible in advance! - A busy week means it easier than ever to forget important assignments like homework or online quizzes. So If possible , do these assignments wrote down in your planners well in advance, so when you get caught up in everything you have to do, you don't have worry about missing an assignment. - This tip is especially useful if you can do your math or language homework in advance.

Tip 3: Don't forget to plan out your break time (watch tv, nap, etc.)! - When planning out your week, it’s important that you schedule in your "Me" time. Things can get crazy in a busy week, and you need to make sure you have some time to relax in between the craziness.

Tip 4: Don't forget to eat! - Another basic but also easy thing to forget during a busy week. Please don't forget to eat so you have energy to keep going. Also, even though it's easy to eat junk food on the go, try to balance out the bad snacks/food with some good snacks/food.

- Some good snacks are: granola bars, fresh fruit, water, salads, rice cakes, veggie chips, etc.

Tip 5: Give your friends and family a heads up! - I know when we're busy sometimes we don't think about friends and family, but they are important. You may not have to tell them everything, but if you know you won't be around them when usually you are with them all the time, just let them know that this week will be busy but you're still there if they really need you.

- Easy to just send a text at least once that week, give them a call at least once that week, try to eat lunch or dinner with your friends at least twice, etc.

I understand how quick things can start to blur together. When busy times come, sometimes you forget to breathe as a student. If you’re anything like me, you start to always think about what’s next, instead of being in the moment. You can become grouchy, annoyed, and just not feeling everything around you, but that is why you and I must find a way to balance busy weeks and busy days.
