Doesn’t it seem like the semester is just flying by?

Not only is the semester flying by, but classwork is piling up day after day! Also, if you add on work, clubs, and events you want to go to on campus…. it seems like there is no time left! It becomes really easy to lose track of all the things you must do and want to do when time is passing by so fast. That is why tools like calendars, agendas, and any other scheduling tools are really important for a college-savvy student like yourself, with so much on your plate. It is never too late to get a great scheduling system.

So, I thought I would share with you a few ways I organize my hanging calendar in my dorm room!

So, unfortunately my calendar is not colorful in real life, but I try to make up for the color by writing in colored dry-erase markers. I use my dry-erase calendar in my dorm for my personal events and due dates that include, but are not limited to: club meetings, bill due dates, birthdays, scholarship due dates, etc. Here is a list of colors I use and what I use them for:

Red = I use the color red for my due dates for scholarships, bills, and etc. I like the color red for this, because it easily draws my eyes to the date the item is due and stands out so I do not overlook it.

Blue = I use blue to mark birthdays and celebratory days on my calendar.

Green = I use green to mark club meetings and events I must or want to go to.

Black = I use black to mark my work schedule

Now, the way you may do your calendar may be different, but I hope that this will give you some ideas to organize to make your calendar work better for you!

No matter how you like to schedule your day or planner, the fact that you do schedule your time is the most important. It is really easy to become stressed doing daily tasks if you don’t know what you’re even supposed to be doing. It is crucial that you plan out your time, because deadlines are very important and have the habit of sneaking up on you. I know personally I struggle with time management, but I am trying to get better at planning out my time. I know I feel overwhelmed when things that could have been taken care of weeks ago, seem to pile up on me the day that they are due. Granted, I am pretty good at working under pressure, but I shouldn’t need to be under pressure in order to do my work my whole life. Working under a time-crunch works in college, but I don’t want to take that attitude into the professional world once I graduate. It is important that I learn better time management skills in college, so that it is not as hard for me once I am in the professional world.
