I'm Going to be Your Motivation: Motivation Wall

Learn how to make a motivation wall that will make you want to get out of the bed every morning.....

Motivation Wall A motivational wall, or a wall of motivation, is a necessity to everyone, especially to us while we are in college and pursuing our degrees. Sometimes we can have long days or get discouraged, with motivational walls we are encouraged to continue on and not give up on ourselves! PurposeHaving a motivation wall or vision board is key when pursuing anything, because they serve as visual reminders of your goals and the reasons why you set those goals for yourself.How- ToBuilding a motivational is easy to start and maintain! There is no right or wrong way to do it! To get started try these steps:

  1. Find a wall- space in your dorm room, house, apartment, etc that you go by every day. This would be a good spot to start your motivational wall, because of course you will look at it often.

  2. If there are any restrictions for your living space (i.e. cannot use thumb tacks, can use thumb tacks, cannot use tape, can use tape, etc), find out and then go buy the correct materials to post your motivational material on your wall.

  3. Look through your social media, google, favorite books, magazines, etc. for some quotes or pictures that speak to you or make you feel positive about yourself. This is the material you need to cover your wall with, because it makes you feel good and gives you hope.

  4. Now, use these materials that you found and just place them randomly on the wall. Or, if you like everything to look more put together, you can come up with a design or color scheme for the wall.

Why is motivation important anyway?

It is very important to have something that keeps you going. Remember why you wake up every morning to go to class, clock into work, walk into that internship, or anything you do on a daily to better yourself. Even though we are college and supposed to be these invincible students, or even if you're not in college, it is easy to get burned out. When finals roll around, or you're having issues with a supervisor, it is easy to get frustrated and ask yourself, "what's the point?" It is important to not get stuck in this mindset. When you forget the purpose in why you are doing things, then you start acting sloppy. Maybe you don't complete all of your assignments like usual or you start showing up late to your shifts, eventually these careless actions will start to make you look bad to other people. Once you get a bad reputation about yourself, it is hard for people to forget it. Bad reputations leads to you losing opportunities, and not gaining new ones to replace the opportunities you lost. Even when you're tired, I would like to think that you still want opportunities to help you reach your definition of success, and a careless attitude can close the doors to those opportunities. So, even though you are tired, I mean we all are, just keep pushing ! You got this! Use your motivation wall or vision board to remind yourself that no matter what life throws at you, you are a survivor and your future is bright.
